Walter Messick
Co-Owner
Walt Messick has always been an integral part of the transportation Industry. He spent the first 15 years of his career hauling temperature-controlled freight, garnering the experience necessary for his venture into the brokerage market. In 1982, Walt recognized an unfulfilled need in the frozen and refrigerated food market and opened his first brokerage company.
Walt's practical knowledge and driving ambition led to a highly successful business operation. He later teamed with another successful broker, Lawrence Hayman, to form H&M Bay. Walt's ambition is still strong and he remains actively involved in the company he founded. |

Lawrence Hayman
Co-Owner
Lawrence Hayman plied his trade early in life as a long-haul transporter of frozen and refrigerated food product. After 15 years in the business, he carved a niche in the brokerage market and opened his own business. Lawrence established a work ethic second to none and guided the business to great success. Desiring a stronger position in the overall market, he teamed with Walt Messick to form H&M Bay and together they built one of the premier brokerage operations in the industry. Lawrence recognizes the company's future potential and remains a major force behind the H&M Bay story. |

Walter Messick III
COO
Prior to joining H&M Bay, Walt served as an Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps for seven years where he served in a variety of command and staff positions. Walt obtained the rank of Captain prior to joining H&M Bay in 2006.
As Chief Operations Officer, Walt is responsible for the day-to-day operations of H&M Bay, as well as our Sales & Marketing, Risk Management and Safety & Training departments. Walt’s background and extensive understanding of the 3PL business, makes him an excellent fit for this challenging position.
Walt earned his M.B.A. from Webster University and his Bachelors of Science degree in Management from Auburn University. |

Alfred Nulph
CFO
Al joined H&M Bay in early 2006, with seventeen years of financial and managerial accounting experience in the real estate development, manufacturing, and transportation industries.
As CFO, Al is charged with the complete financial and administrative management of the organization; he also is responsible for managing H&M Bay’s IT department.
Al holds two Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Computer Information Systems.

Scott Steinhardt
Sales & Marketing Manager
Scott joined H&M Bay in 2006, bringing with him an extensive transportation and manufacturing background. Scott’s charter at H&M Bay is to develop and manage our outside sales team, implement our marketing plan and execute an effective CRM model. As the primary contact for representing H&M Bay to the transportation market, Scott is an integral part of the H&M Bay team.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Management and Marketing, from Indiana State University where he was a member of ISU’s Cross Country and Track teams. |

Michael Ryan
Operations Manager
Michael began his transportation career as a UPS package handler and progressed to driver and then supervisor. Michael left UPS and joined the H&M Bay team in 1993 as a dispatcher.
In his current position, Michael manages our dispatch groups, as well as the LTL cross-dock and cold storage facilities within our seven operational divisions. Michael’s background makes him the ideal candidate for this position, as it requires an extensive knowledge of the dispatch system as well as a background in working with driver qualification applications.
